TMC was founded by Tracy Miller, a graphic designer whose lifelong love of fitness inspired a line of activewear that features bold colors and a new twist on classic prints and patterns–along with some completely new creations!

Like many women who work out, Tracy was tired of the same ol’ look. Not everyone is feeling animal prints for a 6am yoga session! And aren’t we all just a little tired of solid colors and neutral styles? Tracy decided to shift out of neutral! Her bold, graphically inspired patterns are fresh, feminine, and fun. And flexible. You can downshift into a cool, hip style or rev it up to be as hot as you’d like.

As a designer, Tracy is a student of classic patterns. Drawing on a lifelong interest in design and style conventions of the past Tracy modernized and updated patterns found in her extensive portfolio of redrawn antique textiles. These turbocharged classics form the foundation for TMC Activewear’s contemporary but timeless designs.

One of the top reasons women quit–or sometimes don’t even start–a workout program, going to the gym, or attending a yoga studio is how they look. Sure, we all know that fitness is about health and wellness, about feeling good. But, let’s face it: there is a lot of pressure to look fantastic even before you’ve even started the workout regimen that is supposed to help you look good!

How many of us look in the mirror and see only bumps or bulges or bony knees? It’s not just women in their 50s and 60s. Young women, new moms, busy professionals–we all have flaws. It takes a special person to flaunt the imperfections. Famed fashion designer Bill Cunningham once said, “Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life.”

Tracy Miller takes quality personally.

Tracy Miller is not just TMC’s designer, she was also its first customer. And product tester. And quality control officer. She remains as hands-on today as when the first pair of leggings was stitched. Before any product is offered for sale, it has to pass the Tracy test. “I have at least one of each item sold at Tracy Miller Collections,” she says. “I’ve worn, moved in, and lived with every legging, sports bra, tank top, yoga pant, and dress I sell.”

Tracy product tests the entire clothing line in the real world, from the ninja gym to social events, as leisure wear at home and casual clothing out on the town. Each activewear item has successfully run on treadmills, downward-dogged, and pushed the limits of the fabric–and the designer who wore them!

“People love the dresses,” Tracy says. “Whenever I wear them to a party or even shopping, I get nothing but compliments. Same with the leggings when paired with other non-workout clothes. They just work, and women see the style possibilities immediately.”

Designs are crafted digitally in Tracy’s studio, where elements from her library of classic patterns are transformed by her modern aesthetic. Every piece has to pass Tracy’s sharp eye for color, line, and design. Each finished item is printed, with continuous patterns uninterrupted by unsightly seams.

Working Toward Sustainable Fashion.

In order to not contribute to the tons of textile waste from the garment industry, Tracy uses print-on-demand. This means that your leggings, capris, sports bras, tank tops, racerback tank tops, and dresses are made after you place your order. Your garment is printed, cut, and sewn just for you!

Her printer also now ships your order in 90%–100% post-consumer recycled plastic packaging. And, if you only have one item, it will be in a single bag, rather than in a bag inside the mailer.
